Tips for planning a simple Christmas party
Before I share my party ideas, let's talk about keeping things simple.
1. Focus on your employees.Christmas parties are great, but the point is to be together and create memories. Don't let the stress of party planning get in the way of having fun with your friends.
2. Delegate.Don't feel obligated to do everything for your party yourself (unless you really enjoy it). Delegate some tasks to someone else, whether it's another family member or a guest. Don't like games or business activities? Focus on the food and ask someone else to plan the games. Do you feel stressed about decorating? Ask your friend to bring the mistletoe and garlands. Do what makes you happy and leave the rest behind.
3. Pick and choose. This post is full of ideas. Don't try to include ALL - just choose 1 item from each section. The point is to keep things simple - I don't want you to feel overwhelmed with ideas. Just use this post to start thinking about how you want your party to be.
Prepare? Let's plan your Christmas party easy!
matters
You don'tterHave a theme to throw a Christmas party. Christmas is a theme in itself. Just getting a few friends together and eating some good food is reason enough to get together. (Remember: you can keep it simple.)
But! When you want a little more fun, themes are a great way to take your party to the next level without too much effort. Themes also help provide a bit of structure.
Here are some EASY ideas for Christmas themed parties:
4. A progressive dinner. The party moves from one house to another for each course of the meal. Appetizers in house #1, main meal in house #2, and dessert in house #3. (You can also add a salad if you want to extend the night.) A little activity in each house is fun, but you can also just eat.
5. A Christmas movie (like Elf, A Christmas Story or The Grinch).Dress like the characters, eat the food from the movie (think Elf spaghetti and maple syrup – ha!) and you can even watch the movie together.
6. Exchanging gifts with white elephants. It's a classic for a reason! Everyone brings a wrapped present, and you take turns opening it - and stealing it. Sometimes gifts are nice and sometimes they are funny. A combination of both is fun.
7. A gift-wrapping party.Ask each person to bring somethinga roll of wrapping paperand all the gifts to wrap. So you spend the night wrapping presents in each other's wrapping paper.
8. Fondue party.cheer for yourfondue pot, open a package ofCheese fondue, and Dip Bread and Vegetables. A fondue chat ensures a warm and cozy evening together.

Who are you inviting to your Christmas party?
Once you've decided what kind of party you're going to throw, it's time to decide who to invite.
9. Think in terms of categories.I like to think in categories and invite a specific circle of friends when planning a date.
These are some of my own friend groups:
- the neighbors on my street
- mom friends in my neighborhood
- My children's friends and their families
- My Moms Group Friends
- my church group
You probably have different groups than mine - maybe friends from work, or your running group, or your home improvement friends. You might want to invite everyone you know. That works too!

10. The DIY party decoration. But if you're looking for some DIY decorations (or something to keep your kids busy while you get ready for your party), here's a video with some super creative ideas. I love the DIY lanterns and hanging garland.
easy party food
You can't have a party without food, but people are often intimidated by what to serve at a Christmas party. Here are some ideas for keeping things simple (but fun!) when it comes to eating out:
11. Use paper plates. If grooming is keeping you from inviting people to a Christmas party, you officially have my permission to use them.paper plates. We use paper plates whenever we have a large group - even around Christmas time. And these days they make such fun styles no matter what you're looking forelegant, classic, orfestive.
12. Make a hugeWurstbrettorgrass table.Almost everything can be bought in the store, so you are free to prepare your party. (To see13 charcuterie plate ideas for easy entertainingE41 ingredients for homemade charcuterie board!)
13. Make it a potluck.Don't be a hosting martyr - let other people bring food too! Ask everyone to bring an appetizer or dessert, and they'll provide some heavier snacks like mini sandwiches or meatballs. If you use a theme, ask them to bring you a plate that goes with it. Or if you run a helping station (see below), everyone can bring 1-2 things to contribute.
14. Define youp Food stations for Christmas parties.Food bars and food stations are on everyone's lips these days. And why not? They are fun and customizable in times of food allergies and special diets.

simple christmas party games
If you want to do some simple things at your party, here are some super simple but fun games.
20.minute to win games.Have you played them before? You compete in teams to play silly games that must be over in less than a minute. You're so funny! My family has played them several times. And trust me - you haven't lived until you've seen your favorite people try to move an Oreo from forehead to mouth without using their hands.
21. Sticky film.In this game, you hide several small prizes or gifts in a big ball of cling film. Then people take turns rolling the dice and unwrapping the ball. The unwrapper continues to unwrap the plastic film and stores the prizes it finds until the spool bends. The roll then becomes the unwrap and the next person in line starts to roll. Etc. Some people put a $20 bill in the middle to increase the value.
22.left/right gameYou play this game in exchange for gifts. Everyone starts with their own gift in their lap and a Christmas story is read. The problem is, the story often uses the words "left" and "right," and every time you hear one of those words, you have to pass the present across your lap in that direction. Gives lots of laughs!
23. Scharade. It's an oldie but goodie. Write down the clues - Christmas movies, characters, things you find in the winter - and everyone takes turns acting them out without speaking.
24.Heads-up-App.Talk about easy - there is nothing to arrange in this game. It's an app that you can download to your phone. If you've played the Head's Up game, it's the same concept. You hold your phone to your forehead, it shows your friends a clue, and everyone plays it for you to guess before the timer runs out. After guessing the right answer, swipe down to get a new clue.
