main duties

• Optimization of cooperation:
- Work with the partner company to establish and maintain the direction and scope of the implementation and maintenance of the partnership agreements, including the definition of key activities and their respective timelines, and the allocation of responsibilities between the partners.
- Provide a "complete" understanding of alliance issues, allowing you to focus on what is best for your alliance products and what is best for features. You must use business acumen and drug development to proactively manage potential issues to avoid future conflicts.
• Manage and direct your alliance management activities:
- Monitor the execution and compliance with agreed R&D plans and duties of care and take appropriate steps to ensure performance and compliance.
- Ensure that both the strategies and decisions at the operational level as well as the plans and actions are consistent with the alliance's strategy.
• Management and resolution of allied conflicts:
- Manage long-term relationships between Novartis and its partners by demonstrating diplomatic skills and a high level of trust in both organizations. You must routinely assess the health of the association and manage cross-functional issues and teams.
- Proactively plan and manage the evolving nature of the partnership, its governance processes and interactions between partners throughout the contract life cycle.
- Take the lead for Novartis on issues (usually interdisciplinary) that require a consensus or alliance decision, gaining internal Novartis compliance through extensive business knowledge and driving a solution with a partner. Involve key internal stakeholders to ensure rapid decision making.
• General business functions:
- Responsible for reporting commitments and milestones, contract renegotiations and contract modifications to Novartis partners and committees as needed.
- Conduct reviews and meetings with senior management and other functions, as appropriate, to communicate key issues, milestones, etc. and collect feedback.

The salary range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $158,400 and $237,600 per year; however, the base salary offered can vary based on a number of individual factors, including market location, knowledge, skills, and work experience. The overall compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards, plus a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility). ) and various paid vacation benefits such as leave, sick, and parental leave), depending on the position offered. Minimum requirements

Education
• Bachelor's degree required. Degree preferred (PhD, M.D., Pharmacy, DVM, etc.)

Experience
• At least 8 years or more of relevant experience in a similar role with an understanding of drug discovery and development expertise; knowledge of Novartis and other business models in the industry is welcome (biotech, midsize pharma, and academia)
• Proven ability to work across functions, manage crises and align interests of multiple parties
• Experience in cooperation agreements that allow effective interaction with lawyers and scientific teams.
• Appropriate interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to develop internal and partnership relationships and serve as an effective interface among colleagues.
• Strong negotiation skills with excellent oral and written communication skills
